Abstract

The paper as a whole (parts 1 and 2) is a discussion about the relevance of the category of number in Basque in all sectors of the grammar (noun, pronouns, verbs, etc.), its development over time and its possible origin. Part 2 focuses on the possible paths of origin of the number as a grammaticalised category in Basque, and the comparison with typological data.
